The image shown is a GP06B recently installed on a Nissan Patrol with a ZD30 (DDTi) Engine. The Unit is installed and located between the fuel tank and the fuel filters. The power is drawn from a stable power source on an ignition circuit.
The reason the unit was installed was that recently fuel had been contaminated with “Deisel Bug” causing engine filters to block and require frequent cleaning until another fuel filter could be sourced.
Fuel is passed by separate 12 volt pump from tank through a 25 micron inline filter (2 used) with a seperate hose returning it to fuel fill (without passing through an engine filter) for approximately 2 days, this was completed 8 weeks previously to writing of this article.
The replacement filter has not blocked since and the unit is constantly in service whilst engine is running with approximately 4200km travelled.
The vehicle owner is waiting for an opportunity to drain and open and clean tank and fuel lines of any remaining issues.
Update 30th May 2022
On inspection of tank interior, bacteria was not visible, no further filter blockages have occurred since unit installation.
