Recently PFMBlue was asked to attend a vessel in Auckland Harbour, that after provisioning and full preparations for vessel offshore departure, discovered they had developed a “diesel bug” issue while spending a period of time berthed not using the vessel due to maintenance.

They realised that this “diesel bug” issue with increasing warmer waters as they sailed North from NZ and ingression of tropical humid air would have rendered the vessel in-operable at any moment in a remote location.

We were contacted by 37South – Superyacht Agency and asked if our technology and developed processes could rectify the issue as they were to meet their first guests in Fiji and had to clear NZ customs within 48 hours………..challenge accepted.

As can be seen in the attached image the fuel was dark brown and bad (sample on the right), within the time frame they required we had cleaned the fuel (sample on the left, yes its the same fuel), killing the bacteria, stabilising the fuel and ensuring the ISO4406 standard for not only engine reliability, but also returning the tanks and fuel system general health.

We would like to thank the crew and yacht agents.
